I think it means to be non judgemental. Not to necessarily accept everything, but to give everything a chance.

Great question. I think open minded means ability to listen, reason, not to judge, form own opinion, live and let live within reason. Completely open minded might mean not having an opinion, no principles and not giving a monkeys about anything and in turn thinking they can get away with everything simply because they are 'open minded'.

An open minded person is one that is not afraid to hear different opinions even if it goes against what he/she have believed to be absolute truth. But it is also a person that is firm in his/hers belief but will share wisdom on any subject.

A person can not be open minded if he/she can be persuaded by another person.... It is an open minded person that will hear the facts and weight the matter but give an honest opinion even if it will hurt some one they love.
But remember to Be tactful and considerate when being honest, because being honest can sometimes cost you many friends.

I hope this helps even if a little.

yes open minded to me is that you accept everything and are at least open minded to listen to someone about what they want to do or they believe..people can be so open minded that they will do almost anything and not think it wrong at all..i think that a person at some time has to draw a line between things they are willing to do or to listen to...it is best to listen and then decide if they want to do anything or listen to any more..means they do not have any objections to listening to the other person...

I don't consider myself to be open minded. There is one thing I KNOW to be a fact though, and that is, that I don't know everything and if someone has a reasonable argument, then I will listen, think about it and I may even change my mind.
There are other things which I will never change my mind over and I call them Morals.

It does not mean to accept everything, but to accept people who have a different lifestyle and a different thinking way. It doesn't mean that you should tollerate bad things. It can't be possible to be completely open minded.

its not having to agree with everything its just not being negative or prejudiced about things

like you go to a restaurant and the food looks really nasty but since you're open minded you try the food you could've disliked the food afterwards but you were open to the idea of trying it

i think people are way too opinionated and prejudiced to be 100% open-minded about EVERYTHING i know i am

I think everyone has things that they are prejudiced about, but being open-minded means to accept, or at least understand, when events, situations, or people are different from standard norms.

I am afraid you will have to keep an "open mind" about that one.

As a value judgement, whether someone is "open minded" in your eyes, very much depends on your subjective opinion.
