Think about it. Lawbreakers know that they are doing wrong and must be punished. They get a home with utilities paid and have so many luxeries that many of us taxpayers do not have. Theses people broke the law, some murdered, kidnapped, raped, and tourchered innocent fathers, mothers, grandmas, and innocent children and babies. They sold drugs to our children, broke into our homes and made us feel so violated, and broke the law in so many other ways. Why should these people be treated as equals in our society?

Not entirely sure i understand you premise, but let us not forget one man's tyrant is another man's hero. Or to put it another way George Washington and the Founding Fathers were law breakers, and by the end of the war not only were they equals but they were the betters of their society.

"Know that they are doing wrong and must be punished?" I don't think so.

There are two classes of lawbreakers: those who break just laws and those who break unjust laws. You used the example "sold drugs to our children" because that makes it sound worth punishing. But what of the literally millions of people who either are now or who have done real time in prison for nothing more than using drugs themselves? In fact, using marijuana, which is not a drug, but a natural herb, a weed that has been used medicinally and recreationally and spiritually throughout history.

No, lawbreakers should NOT be treated equally. These victims of the unjust laws which invade our privacy should not be subjected to the same conditions as murderers and rapists, people who knew what they were doing was WRONG, not simply illegal.

If you think living in a suburb or having an apartment in a city is by any stretch of the imagination equal to living in prison, you are so incredibly lucky to have never had to see the reality of prison life.

There is absolutely no comparison between living in a prison and living free, so your argument that they are equal is beyond rational comment.

If you're talking about constitutional rights for criminals granted in the 5th and 6th Amendments, then remember that those are primarily limitations imposed against the government. And the government is forced to operate on a level playing feel in the interests of justice.

The fact that those who are later found guilty get the same benefits as those who are later found innocent is a function of the innocent-until-proven-guilty model that is implicit in the 6th Amendment. But again, that's the level the playing field by restricting government misconduct, which is why these 5th and 6th amendment rights are independent of who is being accused.

Your place sucks if prison is better then it. **** I would rather be on an underway navy ship then in prison and I though that sucked. Also if you don't make enough to live better then prison you don't pay taxes. They make take some out of your check but you get it all back if you make that little.

If you think prison is so much better then do something and get locked up. Otherwise stop your bitching and get a good job.

They are equals, but defective of mind - like you, they must be rehabilitated.

It is the act of not caring what happens to a fellow human being that allows one to do wrong to another. If you think you are above them - don't be like them.

I think if I understand the tone of your question correctly, you are referring to those that commit hideous crimes. They are treated civil because we are a nation that believes in human rights. IF we didn't provide electricity, food, clothing, and shelter to those incarcerated that would make us immoral savages like the kidnappers and rapists you are talking about.

So are you saying you get raped daily in your home? because if it is equal, then that is what happens.
