get a lizard! please don't get a snake they make such a mess and escape often no matter how secure you tank is, lizards are a little bit messy but but don't require too much maintenance, if your a student this would work well, snakes will just bug you, turtles are good but very boring.

hmm... if it's a wider tank rather than a taller one I suggest a Uromastyx species, they'd LOVE that much room, you may even be able to keep a larger Egyptian species in there. check out http://www.deerfernfarms.com ... If it's a tank with more height, a water dragon would work. Either way medium sized snakes would be happy in something like that too. Or turtles. Depends on what kind of reptiles you like, but you have the advantage of starting out with a great enclosure. Usually people want something but don't have the room, sounds like you've got a lot of possibilities! I still recommend the Uromastyx though;-)

First you will need to know your local laws.
Most areas of Australia require you to have a liscense to have any reptile pets.
There are several reptile clubs located in various places in Australia that can help you with the laws & finding a pet.
Good luck

Oooh..i have a bearded dragon..they are soo nice. They are very clean, and they keep to themselves very well. They just need a lot of heat (thermal rocks and heat lamps) and they need their tank to have sand in the bottom. They eat almost anything..they love grassy greens but they are NOT vegan..they will eat crickets, meal worms, etc.
So I would recommend trying to get one. They are really friendly and fairly low-maintenence.
