Since this question is in the mythology and folklore section, my answer will reflect the question that way. My mom and dad lived in the Rocky Mountains. My mom loved eagles and spent a good deal of time reading about and watching them. The day my mom was buried (my dad had died several years earlier), two bald eagles appeared just as her casket was being lowered, they circled the cemetery several times then flew off higher and higher into the sky. I got shivers in my back - it seemed significant, beautiful and mysterious to me.
