I understand the difference between loving someone and/or being "IN LOVE". There are many kinds of love. I can't explain them all now. Most of us joke around about "In love" being more correctly labelled "BEING IN LUST".What causes this chemisty in you and/or your life or where do you believe this mysterious chemisty comes from?I'm 49, divoced and haven't felt this chemical reation to anyone else in my entire life. What do you think?( I chat frequenly in Military chatroom)

What about the people who meet on the internet or as a penpal? You can't smell them?

You can get to know someone online/via snail-mail, but you will NEVER know if there is that "thing"...chemistry, connection, attraction until your nose gets in on the act. I would never meet anyone online and expect to know I am attracted to him (not even a movie star) until I meet him in person. Pheremones are very, very powerful, and they will determine if you and the other person have that chemical and incredible connection. If I'm not attracted to a man, he had better wear awesome cologne to try to confuse my sense of smell (but I would never even be able to kiss him without feeling like I want to pull away). If I am...he doesn't need cologne (good hygiene is a must, though). Fake pheremones can add to what is already a positive connection, but they cannot replace it.

Everyone has sensual "hot buttons" that, when pressed, excite this "chemistry" of which you speak. It's slightly different for every individual. This works great in a dedicated marriage because each partner has many years of learning what these buttons are and perfecting how best to push them.

I agree that it's pheromones but you also haven't met anyone who floats your boat. Communication and commonality also adds to that chemistry. As for where it comes from it's an attraction; animalistic like.
