You escape reality and let your imagination do the job. You can also relax for days work and just booze off.
Also, moral lessons in movies gives you a hint that you need to do something better for world peace. =P

Sometimes I recognize things in my life which are related to the film. Other times I am simply entertained and allowed to forget my concerns. Once in a while a movie will expose me to a new world which I was unfamiliar with, taking me to a place I've never been. These are just a few examples. I love movies.

They explain certain problems in real life
They provide entertainment to your busy life
They take you elsewhere for 2 hours of your life
They explain in a fast way a book you don't want to read
They create a world of illusion that no other thing can

you are able to escape from your responsibilities and life's worries for a couple of hours..and it is like seeing a book explode ..what would take you a month to read is exposed in 2 hours..
