Being pregnant, especially in the first three months, makes a woman sleep more than usual. There's some things you can do. Turn off the TV if you're trying to fall asleep with it on, radio too. Warm milk, it does work and if that's not something you can stomach a cup of tea, half peppermint and half chamomile. Don't do physical activity close to bedtime, like last minute house hold chores or exercise. Stop drinking anything with caffine hours before bedtime.
Don't worry about stuff you can't solve right at this minute. All offices are closed, all clerks are sleeping, all bill collectors are counting their coins, there's nothing we can do about anything in our lives when we're supposed to be sleeping.
It's often our thoughts that keep us awake. There's a trick to clearing your mind and allowing sleep to creep up on you. After you get comfortable in bed monitor your breath. Then silently, just in your head, you think "hon" for the in breath and "sah" for the out breath.
These words mean nothing, you're just giving your brain something to do that isn't connected with anything going on in your life. You're just monitoring your breath. You're not doing anything but breathing naturally.
As stray thoughts creep into your consciousness, think LOUDER, give more thought to these sounds. After a while you'll learn how to clear your mind. Your breath will become even and calm, sleep will happen.
It's a form of meditation or self hypnosis, some say it makes them feel calm. It's a good thing to do during the day when you're feeling frazzled, just close your eyes and clear your mind and monitor your breathing.
I've been using this technique for 40 years and I used to be an insomiac, big time.
So sweet dreams and I hope this works for you as well as it has for me.

I think that you must have been worried so much so that you cannot fall asleep. I used to have this problems before when my boyfriend and I were broken up. You are pregnant , so you worry about your child , aren't you ? You said that you got tired in the day, so you must have had a lot of houseworks to do, to worry .
That's your reason, I think.
So, try to take out all your thought and get yourself being relax first. You can out of your bed and do some walk, think of something that is romantic. You can also listen to music, the classic is the best, I think. Don't stress yourself, be relax...

Just sleep when you are tired. Your body is preparing you for all the sleepless nights you are going to have soon. At this point you can't rely on a normal sleep schedule and plan to keep it. Get all the rest you can, soon you will get very little sleep and wish you had slept when you could have. And when the baby comes, don't worry about anything but you and the baby...sleep when your baby sleeps (unless you have a burst of energy) and just enjoy it.

The best time to go to sleep is when your inner biological clock tells you so... This is usualy between 10:00 - 11:00 pm. So don't stay up late watching TV and if you wake up at night becouse of a bad dream or becouse you keep turning over and stuff like that, it is best not to open your eyes, if you do your brain functions are activated again and you can't go back asleep. If you don't open your eyes your brain functionality is minimum and you can go back asleep again. Trust me, that's how I do it...

I've got the same exact problem, but since I'm a guy, I can definitely say it's not pregnancy for me.
Here's hoping we'll get sleepy soon!

Take a benadryll (I cannot spell prescription medications well), they usually make you drowsy enough to sleep. If you're a guy just go jack it. It'll usually knock you out or make you sleepy enough.

there's really no specific way you have to find out whats the best way for you , and if it gets to serious, talk to your doc, maybe they can prescribe you somethign, but first, try different things, a warm glass of milk, a hot bath, find somewhere comfortable in your house, i fall alseep faster on my couch, maybe your under alot of stress, try some tea or reading a book good luck

try taking "melontonin" (not sure how to spell it ) you can find it in the vitamin / herb isle at your store. your body may not be making enough of it on its own. when i was pregnant i was very sleepy, if you try what i suggested find out if you are pregnant first, then ask your doctor about taking it.

You better go to sleep when you feel like it from now on....depression will soon set in, if you don't.
Read a book....you will stop those thoughts that go round and round in your head by focusing on a story...
