ok carolina* that's what i've thought
wanting to be tan and liking the race are 2 different things

and Kawynne* you're right that you said i asked wrong coz i didn't mean all ,and the word ' don't like ' i didn't mean hate , you can see my intention in the first detail. if you hold on and try to understand .

but anyway i get it that this issue is not good for generization and can lead into racial issue
therefor i have to say i am sorry i have to think more about Q that can lead into sensitive issue

Of course not all white people dislike African people, just as I'm sure not all African people dislike white people - but this very question is a good example of the awkwardness and stereotyping that people try to avoid which in the end has the potential to come across as a racial bias. White people tan because it can give the appearance of a healthy, fun-loving person, and help to camouflage things like cellulite. For some it is actually addicting since the UV rays help the body to release feel good chemicals to the brain - and often these are the ones that end up with the leathery, wrinkled skin that continue to tan despite their unhealthy aged appearance.

I am white and my best friend is black.

Ummm, Im sorry, but you must live in Alabama or something. You need to move to California or New York where people don't say y'all or add four sylables to every word. My mother is married to an African American man. I am engaged to a Indian man. I don't know where you got the idea that all white people don't like darker skinned people.

I think you need new reading content because they need to get out of Alabama too.

Saying this implies that all white people don't like African people which is wrong. I am white and have dated black guys, tho my preference is more on the light skinned side. I think tan or caramel skin is sexy and pasty white dudes are not.

P.S. You make no sense by saying you rarely see white people who love black people. Should I jump on every black person I see, shower them with kisses and hug them till they push me off just to show that I don't hate them??? You can't hide a racial question is Beauty & Style and make it something it's not.

Well, I guess you live in the middle of nowhere to not see interracial couples. Wanting to be tan, and liking the race, are 2 different things. Open your mind up...get away from that hick town you're living in!
I'm not white or black...just brown. Just because I can go to the beach and be darker doesn't mean I don't like white people!

I do like people with dark skins. I know there is still some racism but don't paint with such a broad brush.
Not everyone is racist. I know many black people both native (born here) and some of the Sudanese 'Lost Boys' who settled in Iowa. I found the Sudanese to be less likely to have suspicions tword white people. They are happy and fun to talk to, no chip on their shoulder. Bigotry flows both ways.
I may not know many people but I have friends of several different races and each is special to me.

I hope you someday have some good experiences with white people so you can open up to seeing that we are not all alike.

That question is too loaded. It has assumptions that don't work with the majority of people alive, who do not discriminate on the basis of race, creed or color. You could rephrase with something like, "Why are some white people predjudiced against African Americans, but then they go out and tan?" Anyhow... thats my answer. Take it to the bank. (If you want the bank to laugh at you)

It's not a racial question? Who says white people don't like african americans? But since this is a ridiculous question I might be able to provide a ridiculous answer for you, could it be that suntan lotion smells a hell of a lot nicer?

That's quite a generalization of white people isn't it? I mean, most white people do not dislike African people....Right? So, to answer your question, um, I have no idea.

The article in Beauty and Style are guilty of making a generalization. It's a pity you read it and just accepted it like that without questioning its merit.
Interracial relationships are made that much more difficult to have because they have to go through generalizations like this. I'm not attacking you. I just wonder why you blindly accepting the article. Since when has "Beauty and Style" been an authority on racial issues? Please.

We all know when white women are skinny they do it to the point that they look annorexic. So I would say skinny brown skinned african american because she is probably naturally skinny and not eating a grain of rice for dinner like the skinny white woman.
