are guys excited too (not as excited) and just don't show it

You're right to a degree...a guy dosen't want to appear clumbsy beacause they're not 'Fred Astair' (actor/dancer) and with their date have a good time. Also its a good time to talk with friends which is cool because during the semester it might be hard to get together with the crew. (Keep that in mind).
Looks? dress? Probably a desire to 'dress-down versus 'dress-up which is a guy-thing. There's excitement...and once again...you're on the right track...guys will hide or keep it low-key.
Just do one thing...have a good time. Keep yourself safe and collected...you go through this only once in a lifetime. Bye Ash.

I've never once been excited by a dance. It is like a chore or some form of work. You go for the purpose of dancing with a female. If that works you get to talk to that female more (at the dance, at school, where ever). And if a guy finds it right he'll ask the girl out. But a guy should never be excited about going to a dance unless he believes it leads to something better (girlfriend, popularity, sex, etc.). It's work, not play.

No they are really not even interested in the dance it's all about the girl. If the dance makes the girl happy then the girl usually makes the guy happy.

guys are never excited for dances... well... some are not... some guys are excited.. but dont wanna show it.. because their friends might think he is gay... thats y some guys just show up.. and talk to the ladies.. some dance.. som just sit... :D
us guys are thinking.. "what colonge should i use?" and "will i dance?" and some "how many numbers can i get tonight?"
