Sue the cow for undue care and attention - claim for whiplash too! get as many details off her as possible, and if you develop cancer later in life (hope not) - sue her again for secondary inihalation of carcinogens (presumably she was still smoking when you both exchanged details).
If you hadn't guessed - i'm on your side on this one! (A Driving Instructor)

Not everyone is the same I'm a smoker Ive been in 4 car accidents none in which are my fault it's just ppl not knowing how to drive and they don't understand what comes first which would be the road ahead. So, if you think that they should ban smoking while driving then they should also ban ppl over the age of 60, and any ethnic group beside Caucasian, do you agree with that? of course not it's hypocritical. Guess they should ban chewing gum, breathing, drinking any beverage, while driving huh???

Your a bonehead if you think smoking causes accidents! If anything it relaxs the person to the point they can focus and drive safely. You want 30 million stressed out people driving on the roads all because they can't smoke in there cars or better yet have people so worried to be seen smoking in there cars that they concentrate more on hiding and lighting there cigarettes then the road ahead of them? Backoff the smokers and go stick up for some issue more substantial. You must be a democrate who wants more government in peoples lives...get a life and get a grip!

as you are taught to drive and in the highway code you are told you must keep both hands on the steering wheel at all time except for changing gear so when you take your hands off the wheel for any other reason that person is actually breaking the law no matter what it's for even changing the radio station or smoking a ciggy so really it is already banned just that people don't give a sshit because they know they'll get away with it and the highway code is the law but the law is an ***

Yes, but not based on the phone arguement.

People have been fined for eating an apple at the wheel or taking a drink from a water bottle, so smoking should be classed equally.

The steps required - locate packet of cigarettes, open and remove one, place in mouth, locate lighter and operate, bring lighter to end of cigarette, and puff.

Then continually dispense of ash into ashtray or out of window.

That has to be as distractiing as eating an apple, if not more so.

As for the arguement it relieves stress, so does alcohol but no ones saying that should be allowed either. Poor nicotine junkies can't function without a fix, bless em!

I do think that smoking while driving should be banned, but not because that they can't drive well. I hate the smell of smoke premeating my interior when I have my windows down on a nice day. That stuff just plain stinks and it is inconsiderate to make other people smell it.

It isn't that bad!! And it is THEIR vehicle! I think you need to have some proof other than anecdotal. I know that they have to take their eyes off the road to light one, at times, but smoking generally is subconscious!

Now if you would take cell phones away from Idiots that talk on the phone while driving> They ARE a hazard, even with "no hands" phones. That takes their mind off the road and they don't pay attention. I have seen them ram into the back of a stopped auto, go through red lights, and kill themselves while talking on the phone!

yes , smoking should be banned in cars. a friend of mine was the only survivor in an accident that killed four of his football team when one of them tried to flick a cigarette out of the drivers window. only the window was closed and the butt ended up in the drivers face.
big problem tho, how do you enforce it or get a government with the will to even consider opposing the tobacco lobby. great idea but a no brainer

picking noses, eating , putting make up on, opening the window, tuning radio are all excuses for crashing, trust me on this one, who ever hit you was just a careless driver who will now have to pay to fix your car, as for smoking when driving you shouldn't really, i drive and i smoke, but i don't do them both at the same time. some careless t**t threw a cigarette out of there car window an it went into my air vents an set fire to my car, i had my 2 babies in with me too, my car was written off because of it, i empathise with you xx hope it all gets sorted soon xx

yea as soon as they ban listening to the radio while driving and eating. Your obviously a non-smoker and I can respect that. Unfortunately I'm almost certain that **** would have smashed into you whether she or he was smoking or not. Like that saying " Guns don't kill people, people kill people" "driving smokers don't kill people, dumb people kill people.
