We all know the law, he will have to pay child support. I am asking if the male can basically reject a relationship with the child because he never wanted one/his own childhood was abusive and he does not want to revisit that part of his life.

Wow, the people answering these questions are BRUTAL. I'm sure that none of these respondents would ever have done something so OUTRAGEOUS as to have sexual intercourse for fun, taking precautions but finding that the birth control had fail. Geez.....

I don't know, can you? I guess you are really the only one that can answer that. I had a bad childhood, too. You know why? A lot of the reason was that my father was not there. If he had been there, in some way, I think that it would have been a lot better. I do not think it is fair to do that to a child. Children without fathers end up with major emotional issues in most cases. You should make an effort to be there somehow. Once a year... once a month... a card... a surprise... whatever you can handle. It will make a huge difference in a life that you helped make.

Well if you are the father, then the child will be yours no matter what you do. Now as to how involved you are in that childs life that is up to you. You could sign over all custody rights, willing the mother will sign and accept the terms. If you dont sign any legal documents giving up rights she can pursue you for child support. You will always be that childs father whatever you do... my advice is deal with it. I had to deal with it and I didnt like the course of action I took. The father wanted nothing to do with the baby so I aborted, that was my bad, and I will never put myself through that hell again. You should be a man and face the fact that you chose to have sex, and now you have to deal with the outcome.

You were obviously having sex more than once and you know the consequences of it ahead of time. If you are adult enough to stick it in, you need to mutually agree whether you should stick it out. A child would always PREFER to have a father. Abortions or adoptions are an option. But don't just sweep your 30 seconds of fame under the rug like it's nothing.

Certainly!
Only if he can see himself STANDING TALL UNDER THE BELLY OF A SNAKE!
Many men walk away from those conquest as if it's a badge of merit. To flagrantly misuse their responsibility as seed planter and then go about their lives as if they have done something magnificent. I have found boys in suits talking as if they have accomplished a great feat , yet are still doofuses when it comes to women.
Have you ever wondered why God save the best for last?
Because as Adam so obviously showed as soon as that woman got in his sights and she ate that apple. He blamed her!
Men are as they have always been , wusses! (small case)

Well, I guess the man has free will, so he can reject relationships with whomever he chooses. But morally and ethically, that definitley makes him an a*shole. There are many such a*sholes among us, however, who have demonstrated that the man can, in fact, reject that relationship.

There is this little thing called "Child Support" that is law. But that doesn't stop some bastards from walking away from their responsibility.

Many men seem to find it easy to walk away, but can you really live with yourself knowing you abandoned a part of you?

He could, but that would just be immoral. I know a guy like that and most other people I know hold him in very low regard
