Can a scientist who is in the 'know' tell me honestly how long we have before the Gulf Stream is fcuked and enough fresh water from the arctic melts and dilutes the Atlantic Conveyer and stops it and makes the film 'Day after tomorrow' (NASA, by the way, from what I've heard wasn't happy about some of the claims that film made - bit too near the truth apparently - and wanted it changed - a bit like the U.S. Army wanted the 'plausible liability' dialogue & Area 51 scenes changed in the film 'Independence Day') a reality! When do I need to by a Parka coat and my eskimo boots from the ex-military clothes shops etc., and to brush up on my survival training - I know it can't be too long now and it's not a case of IF but WHEN - could a good quality meteorological scientist and/or scientists give me the bottom line please !

It's not flooding I'm worried about - it's FREEZING - SUPER FREEZING that concerns me - after that Gulf Stream comes to a complete standstill coz it's getting diluted - I haven't been convinced otherwise yet and some seem to have conveniently fogotton about the Boxing Day Tsunami ! As for being paranoid - I wonder how many people know that Hollywood's R+D budjet is bigger than NASA'S !!!

The ice caps won't melt and even if this scenario did happen there would be no flooding. Why not? Take some cold water and put it in a measuring jug. Note the exact amount and then put it in the freezer overnight. Take the jug out next morning and note the measurement. Is it above or below the measurement when it was just plain water? The Earth's water levels will actually drop if the poles melt!

The scenarios of disaster films are pure fiction and cannot happen as they have been shown, or they would have happened long ago! The Earth's temperature was warmer long long ago. Europe had a mediterreanean temperature everywhere. There were no cold places as we know them now. There is too much evidence to support that the whole earth was warm at one time, therefore the anomaly is the actual frozen poles lying on top of land.

Apart from the occasional really bad winter, storms, hurricanes, etc, etc, which are all natural occurences there is no need to panic or increase your stock of survival supplies. Man's inhumanity to fellow men in time of war and in times of great need, as demonstrated in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina will cause more harm than nature will manage to do.

Area 51 is a devolopment site, and the public 'interest' in that site has only served to provide the U.S. government the means to increase their military budget against a potential threat that does not exist. This is the reason the Cold War lasted so long. The U.S. knew that Russia would not attack Europe, but the implied risk was used to further their requests for an increased military budget to meet the non-existent threat.

So relax and chill out and enjoy the good weather while it lasts. We complain whenit rains and also when it is warm, like now.

Except in Hawaii. The cool tradewinds are blowing at 15 - 25 mph. It's about 88 degrees, hasn't even hit 90 yet. In the sun it's hot but the tadewinds make it cooler & in the shade it's even comfortable. What Irony, we're closer to the equator than almost everyone else. So come to Hawaii. Aloha!

We would have all blown each other to peices before the world dies...

my advice is to hastily construct some kind of makeshift spacecraft and explore space for an S3 type planet.

We should all buy hummers and chant "USA! USA!" as we fill them up at the gas stations. No, I don't like making sense.

Do all your questions have to be quite so long?

Whatever are you going on about this time?
