One culture often seems "odd" or "foolish" to another culture. But their customs, creeds and beliefs are not foolish to them and everyone... everyone should be treated with respect and courtesy.
I'm quite sure there are people that think American girls are foolish! That doesn't make it so.
Please don't judge all Americans by this one person. I hope she learns better manners soon!

Indian girls have long been considered too coy and seemingly dim-witted by westerners as Indians are predisposed towards being shy and feminine.
On the contrary, Americans like bold, aggressive girls and have a preconceived notion that shyness and coyness can be equated to being a doormat.
Its a cultural misunderstanding, and your american friend needs to be enlightened about the Indian way of thinking.

In the broad scheme of things, I'd say no. Likely depends on the specific Indian girl. Although I could be wrong, Though I used to live next to an Indian family, I've yet to talk to an Indian girl. Presuming of course your speaking of Indian as in India, rather than 'Native American' or what have you.

I am sure that there are some, just as there are in any group of people. In whatever group your American colleague classifies him or herself for instance, s/he would be one of them.
