These are kinda like overpriced insurance programs. It would be wiser to save some "rainy day" money for such little occurrences that happen day-to-day.

Another problem with these PPL programs, most aren't attorneys that run the deal. they are a referral program, i.e. another layer to be paid.

Some Unions or large employers provide such services as part of the employee compensation package. be careful! You may be waiving privacy rights or conflict of interests between you and your company provided lawyer

Lastly you generally have to select from a list of their pre-approved lawyers. Think about it. If a lawyer can't get his/her own business then why would you want some loser type lawyer?

The best way is to ask family and friends for a referral. Generally if you have to advertise then that lawyer is just ambulance chasing. Wouldn't you rather have people chasing after an attorney for services?

If you don't want to discuss the matter with family or friends then look up the local Bar Association or State Bar Association. Most will have a no-costs or low costs referral program to put you in touch with the most appropriate attorney for your needs.
