I have never wanted to have children for a variety of reasons. For me it is a lifestyle choice. I want to be respected for it as much as the procreators.

Its called the circle of life. Old people die, babies are born. Even if every person in the world used contraceptives, as long as there is air/water/and food people will reproduce and there is nothing you can say or do to keep it from happening. telling people their genes aren't special is as effective as telling a tree that there is way too many of them in the forest and they just need to stop reproducing. your better off telling female mosquitoes to get on birth control or putting rubbers on stray dogs. just one of those things you gotta live with.

There are many reasons but the main reason is for a purpose or meaning in life. Having children continues the family legacy and when a couple have kids their family history and bloodline can continue. Kids give the parents a purpose to continue striving and living life because it is up to them to take care of them and always put food on the table. Giving and having life is a beautiful thing and it is very selfish for you to say that since you are already born and exist in this world. As many people being born everyday, there is also a large number of people dieing everyday making more room for the newborn.

You know what ? I'm 44 years old and I've been asking the same question since I was a teenager.
I cant believe all the self centered egotistical couples
that treat child bearing like its a new attention getter.
Or worse yet , To make that addition to that new brick home in the form of a human. Just so they can feel complete Like the status quo of the Jones's next door kind of crap.Then they can proclaim, "oh well yes as a matter of fact we do have a child that attends such and such school" But it's really all about them being pridefull in bein able to tell somebody that line of self centered talk.

I couldn't agree more. Every environment has a carrying capacity for a given population...and human over-population is gonna wreck this planet! Besides, kids are noisy, messy, and expensive, right? I mean, I LIKE sleeping in on the weekends.
But society seems so conditioned to reproduce that the thought of not having kids seems foreign to most people. When my wife and I tell people we aren't planning on having kids, most people are too brainwashed to accept that as a viable option.

It is human nature to reproduce. In fact, that is our duty while we are here. Geesh, I wonder what it would have been like if your parents thought the same thing. No more you! And no, the world can't go on without another generation.

biological clock and some people want to create something with the love of their lives. some people think it's a way to solve a problem, some people make mistakes. there are thousands of reasons. you can't stop people from having kids. the need to repoduce is human nature. and with animals, extend the species.

I'm going to steal B.B.'s 11 offspring and put them to work in my sweat shop making clothes for 7 cents an hour - that's the only thing kids are good for.

I think alot of it has to do with social conditioning... There's probably a biological aspect to it... & I KNOW there are political & religions promoting it... ... I kinda agree though. There ARE too many of us. We're chewing up the World & polluting it with our wastes. ... Ah- but just TRY to tell people NOT to have babies!- It might be the LAST thing you do!!!

OMG I am with you on this.....
Stupid people produce stupid people. We are all doomed!!! I always say, "kill off the dumb ones"(when I see stupid people doing stupid things) cause some of them seem to do that nicely to themselves.
I don't know why they do it. (reproduce) I'am going to say a majority of people are just too stupid to be careful, if you know what I mean.
