I would probably not let my daughter have her ears pierced before she is 12 or 13. She may never want her ears pierced...I don't consider it my place to do it for her. I don't like the look of earrings on little girls, and I think it poses a potential danger from infection, being ripped out, or choking. So, I'd avoid it until she is much older and is responsible for their care.

My mom pierced got my ears pierced when i was a baby because she thought since i was a baby i would be used to shots and when you get older you might be scared to get them peirced because of the pain so it's better while they're babies, hope that helped but i don't wear earrings if i don't want to

I was 9 years old and it was so exciting. I wanted it done so badly, i begged and begged until my mom took me. I wouldn't have a baby's ears pierced, I have a friend who would rip her earrings out as a baby and has scars on both ears because of it.

My grandma got her ears pierced when she was just a few days old. I had mine done when I was older. I would recommend doing it at a young age since it's a pain in the booty later on. I was so wiggly the girl got the earring gun stuck in my ear and I had to have a back of the earring surgically removed since being eight, I didn't properly take care of it.

When my dau was born, I asked her pediatrician. He pierced them at her 5 month visit (so much better than going to the mall). She has had no trouble ever with them. I am now going to have my 2nd dau ears pierced at her next dr's visit (5 months).

My peditrician told me I should have it done before 12 months or after age 8. He said the years in between - the kids will play with them too much and they will get infected or the earrings will fall out & the holes will close up. If they are done when they are little - they have time to completely heal as well as the kids don'r play with them nearly as much as they are used to them.

I'd do it as early as you can. I think some places won't do it til she's 3 months old. I've heard people say that their babies didn't even cry! I took my daughter when she was 2 years old and it was torture. I felt like the worst mom ever! She screamed and bawled and her face turned purple. I wish I would have done it when she was a baby. Plus it looks so cute!!

i personally wouldn't do it. i think i wouldn't want to risk the possible infection or the choke hazard if one came loose. also, it was somewhat a milestone in my life when i was "old enough" to have my ears pierced and it was an exciting and memorable experience and a bonding thing between my mother and i. i think i was 8 or 10 years old. but that's just me. if you want to do it, i think it matters more where than when. i would be sure to go somewhere reputable, with licenses and such. make sure they use disposable piercing guns and new, sterile studs, and be sure to get some cleaning solution. take good care to clean and turn them for her everyday to avoid infection and check them each day to see that they are securely fastened.

well, i am allergic to earrings.. and my ex had my daughters peirced at 3 mos, and they became so infected that her earlobe swelled OVER her earring!!! i guess she is allergic, also, but it was horrible!!! we took her to the ER, and the doc pushed it back thru w/out numbing it, and she had ended up w/ a bad skin infection bc of the metal from the studs... she has a scar on the infected lobe, and i vowed to never, ever get her ears pierced again!!!
