It won't run. Gasoline is flammable and explosive. Diesel fuel is essentially oil. Mr Diesel designed the motor to run on oil, not flammable gasoline. Good luck with the tow to a service station and fuel tank flush.
Specifically, the gasoline will ignite in the chamber well before the engine expects it to, causing a SERIOUS misfire condition, stopping the rest of the cylinders cold.

Literally, nothing!
Diesel has a much lower combusion point than gas, and thats important here.
See, as you may know, gas engines use a spark plug to create a spark, and that spark is what generates enough heat to ignite the aerosolized fuel.
In a Diesel engine, there are no spark plugs. The aerosolized diesel is simply compressed in the combustion chamber by the piston to the point where it explodes (the more you compress a gas, the higher its temp becomes, until it ignites).
Because the combustion point of gasoline is so much higher than that of diesel, the engines stroke is too short to compress the gas enough. In other words, it compresses enough to ignite diesel, but it would have to compress much further to be able to ignite regular old gasoline.
Hope this helps!

This has happened twice to my Audi....
The first time I realised what I had done before I started the engine and the breakdown service took my car to their depot where they drained the fuel tank and replaced the fuel with diesel....no damage but cost lots of dosh.....
Second time, my husband filled the tank whilst I went to pay. I manged to get 1.5 miles (had zeroed the milometer) before the engine gave out...before it did so it was "missing" and I thought I had a problem with the car itself. When it conked out I realised what my husband had done....and so did he! Once again there was a call to the breakdown service. As this was in the evening, the car was taken to the depot where the fuel tank was drained the next day, flushed through and new filters fitted...also some more fuel was added. Once again a very costly business!

People.....Read the question... Im with the first one. He is on top of the operation of the diesel. You could even put you some burnt chicken grease in it after it was strained realy good. what realy plays a factor in this is how much did you put in it?

Diesel clogs up your gas tank & you have to get a mechanic to clean your entire engine & tank & fuel injector / carbrator before adding in gasoline.
So I guess the opposite would happen?

no damage to engine but it wont run as well as on diesel ( may make the pump wear out, about $1,200, get some chain saw oil in there) It won't freeze up if your running below 10deg :O)

no no no..u dont wanne do that..,dieselfuel has the abbilty to grease your engine, has alot more oil in it.
my best guess is,that it will get stuck after a while,if you get it running in the first place..,..the dieselfuelpump and the injection depends also for greasing on the fuel ,thats been used.
