I'm talking about the 'small' films that don't get a lot of attention, barely make much money at the box office, and still are as good, if not better than the well known movies out there.
I'll mention 'House Of Yes.'

Shine and Ulee's Gold, both from ten years ago, or so.
Akeelah and the Bee, from this summer
A documentary called Paper Clips from last year (showing on HBO now) about the holocaust.
There are so many more, but my memory is shot for tonight.
My favorite movie is Big Wednesday from 1979. I was just a kid then, so I don't know if it was an "art house" type when it was originally released. I hear that it has a cult-like following now, even though it got panned by the critics when released. Just shows you what the critics know!
If you are over 30, and grew up on the beach, you've got to see it. If you are neither of those, see it anyway. Geez- I'm starting to sound like the movie phone guy. I better hang up now.

those are all fairly large video clips! some others you may want to like are: Wendy and Lucy - especially depressing, yet nonetheless magnificent The Diving Bell and the Butterfly - fairly artwork homestead and likewise very depressing Amores Perros - large relaxing to visual demonstrate unit The Counterfeiters - also very relaxing Labyrinth - CRAAAAAZY!!!!!!!

Its kind of a big deal now, but mine was The Big Lebowski. It was peanuts when it came out...but now its kind of a big deal I guess because of all the fans of the movie.
