Faster than 50 years. We used to be #1 in everything. We were richest country of all time, now we are the opposite...biggest debtor nation of all time. We are 36th in health care, 26th in freedom of press, and racing farther to the bottom every day in every way.

please.....if we keep up at this destructive pace....there won't be any debates if the US is a third-world country because the whole world will be like a third-world country. It's just a matter of time when the US and the entire world falls. Scary reality check isn't it?

Yes I'm very sure its taking place now but not all of us see it yet, I'm president of a foundation in The Netherlands giving Humanitarian and financial support to the Lakota / Sioux Native American Indians of the United States America. I support financially through fund-raising for the highest rate in poverty among the Native American Indians in the United States America for the Elders, family , Reservations and so forth. If you are referring to the U.S. 3rd world country The Native American Indians of the United States are the real Americans they can explain to you about the world issues.

Not unless someone nukes us back into the stone age. What's the definition of a third world country? It's not a nation of jerks or even a repressed nation. Nazi Germany was not a third world country.

With all the religious cooks out there, we are turning into a society similar to Iraq. Some people want to disregard science and rely solely on religious beliefs. George Bush wants to veto stem-cell research funding because it is "immoral." If you believe in the theory of evolution you are sinning, according to "bible-thumpers." As a society we need to pull our heads out of our @sses and prosper. We cannot be bound by religion in such an extreme way. What happened to the separation of church and state? It is important because religion is not always the most rational guideline to follow. We may be heading toward a "third-world" status if we continure letting radical religious ideas get in the way of advancments in science. Wake up,or "Praise Allah."

No... our popularity may recede a bit... kind of like how Britain was the king before WWII. They're still a great and powerful country, just diminished in stature a bit. This may happen to us, but it also may not, as we are the most free market economy there is... meaning we're subject to ups and downs, I just think we're in a down.

No, however, I think the gap between the wealthy and those in poverty is spreading faster and wider more now than ever.
