I live in a small bachelor apartment and it feels like a sauna. I thought 2 fans would be enough and I can't afford to by an a/c. Any tips for making my apartment more cooler? It's so bad I can hardly sleep.

Take as much ice as you have in your fridge and put it in a vessel under the fan. As it melts it will cool the air around it and the fan will circulate it cooling your room a bit. If your television, radio etc have been switched off with a remote switch off the mains as well.

Yeah, I was only able to cool my place to 74F this morning. Today and yesterday 101 and 102F. At least, I'm retired and can sleep whenever I can.
It doesn't last long enough for an air conditioner, maybe a week or two.
Close the door to the bathroom and let the sink fill with a drip, it can stay cool in there at least. Start using more ice cubes,... it's tuff but you can last through it.

I serioulsy feel for you! We just had a heat wave move through out town, and I tell ya......Anyway, we are kinda in the same boat. AC to spendy and all the fans do is circulate the hot air around. Next best thing? Cool down your body. I went out and bought a box of those freezie pops and ate about 10. And I seriously kid you not, my internal body temperature dropped. Cover your windows with blinds, blankets, whatever......keep that suns rays outta your appt. Drink lots of water, take a cool bath, and hang in there. Winters coming.......

Well, I live in FL, & when the electric went out, I made sure that my curtains stayed closed all day (they are thick curtains to keep out the sunlight) & I had fans on me. I also had some extra ice, so i out the icce in my ice bag & kept that near my pillow. I wrapped cold wet wash rags around my rists & ankles. I also took a nice cold bath before bed so I could actually sleep. I did wake up all wet & sweaty, but I slept.

ugh, im in the same position you are, plus we have a toddler who spends the whole day all sweaty, poor thing. keep blinds and curtains shut to keep out sun. when it starts to cool off a little, point a fan OUT an open window to suck out the hot air. good luck! i want an A/C unit but everywhere here is sold out! it was 108 today and i live in freakin oregon! its not fair, lol, its not supossed to be this hot!

Yeah, it was the hottest day in L.A. today. Just turn the fans on hi, wear as little as possible, and hold VERY still.

Oh, and turn off your computer! It generates a lot of heat. And turn off other things that may emit heat.

Outside of air/conditioning or having one blow and one suck created a mini wind tunnel or having one right on you to quickly evaporate the sweat, no clues. I feel your pain though. Its midnight here and its still 85 outside and thats how it is pretty much all summer here.

If your bathroom or wherever has a vent, turn it on. It will help to suck out the hot air inside the house.
