I gave up on it after the first season (well, actually well before then). Besides, in terms of filling the niche left vacant by "Friends," "How I Met Your Mother" is a pretty good mix of the familiar--attractive twentysomething whites in New York and their relationship hijinks--and the fresh (a different emphasis, vivid characters that are different enough from the "Friends" gang, more interesting pacing and narrative devices, a more subtle humor as well as the frenetic tone of something like "Scrubs."
