If you do a recursive rename on a folder, it will rename all of the files and folders inside that folder as well.

Recursive here applies to the files and folders within the directory as well as the directory itself.

A recursive delition of a directory first deletes the subdirectories of that diirectory and finally the directory itself. Recursive copying of a directory copies the subdirectories of that directory as well and so on. You need them when you work with directories in command prompt.
