I don't know about imploding but I definitely think we are in danger of being attacked by another nation or coalition. People go around with the false impression that terrorists are the only ones we have to worry about in the world and everybody else is either too scared or too weak. I wish this were the case because things would be a whole lot easier for us. Just for the record by the way, terrorists don't take over countries like ours, they just bomb the crap out of our civilian population until we become so scared shitless, we start losing our cohesion and start behaving irrationally, such as attacking nations for no good reason, or taking our citizens' civil rights away, or thinking your neighbor is the enemy. When this starts to happen they start winning, good thing this would never happen in this country, or would it.

The US is neither in danger of imminent collapse or takeover. Both of these scenarios are highly improbable. However, the US has wasted many of the diplomatic opportunities that have arisen over the last several years. And, it has overstretched its military. Meanwhile, its trade deficit skyrockets. The result is there is a high probability that the US will lose its status as a superpower with the ability to act unilaterally and to dictate policy to nations around the world. Thus, the US may become a power among powers, and it will have to work cooperatively with other nations within some sort of multilateral, international framework, such as the UN or other organizations.

What could possibly happen to make us implode? We survived the Great Depression, WWII, and we have nukes now. What pathetic country could take us over? The US is the third most populous nation on Earth.

the only country that can threaten the US militarily (in terms of takeover) is probably china.
No chance of that either. The US is the largest base of reliable consumers on the planet, not to mention that we feed more people outside of our borders than inside.

We are being invaded as we speak, by who you ask? The Mexicans, it won't be long before we are the minority in our own country.
And as for a military force, look back to Vietnam, low tech is very effective against a super power.
