Love when it first strikes is high adventure and grand poetry. Yet so much of this fire is the flash of attraction and romance. Love has to be tested in the furnace of hardship. Real love takes time to realize. Does the person accept some of the more profound flaws in their beloved's personality? Do they take care of the other when they are profoundly sick? Can they stand together even when it seems as if the entire world appears to have turned against them? When all that is sweet and fresh about romance and love in the early days has withered away, can the lover and the beloved reveal hearts made of steel bound together no matter the hardships? And, even as that will is tested, can they remember and reinvoke the idyllic pleasures of their early days again? Love proves itself in the forge of difficulty.

It makes me sad to see all the answers that include "Enjoy it! It won't last long!" If it's true love...it will last. It'll always last. Whether you split up or stay together, you'll always love that person.

But here's my bit....when I fell in love, I was on cloud nine. Time had no relevance because I was always having fun. The only time we spent apart was when we were working. The passion was amazing...things like how we slept all tangled up in each other, and every day we spent trying to impress each other. I'd cook him a great meal...and he would follow up by washing the dishes. It was blissful. And we didn't argue. Ever. If we didn't agree...we just agreed to disagree. I think it was so great too b/c we were friends first and we already knew each other. So when we fell in love...it was just magic...when he touched me I would actually feel some sort of magic. My body would tingle from head to toe...not just a feeling of lust...I mean this warm, happiness where I was sure I was just glowing...busting at the seams with love. I smiled everywhere I went....it's also still like that with him!

love is wonderful. yet it hurts all at the same time. love is VERY powerful. i first fell in love summer of 05. i was only 13. yes i know..you'd think i was young, but i'm sure of it that i was in love and i still am. i gave him my virginity about a month later. he means absolutly EVERYTHING 2 me. hes leaving on sunday to move 2 Oregon, and then might be going into basic training and then might go to Iraq. but anywho he is 18 years old. he is tall, blonde hair and blonde eyes. skinny. funny, loveable, sweet,a big dork, understanding, and yet all at the same time a jackass. but i love his jackassness. he makes my heart sink all at the same time. makes me laugh constinly. i STILL love him and i know that i always will. LOVE NEVER DIES. and your first love is important and you will NEVER 4get them in anyway. but yet all at the same time love is hard. 4 me...my love has been bumpy and very rocky. but when you make it past that then you know you can make through anything. well what i'm trying to say is that when i found love it was amazing, and always will be. that first love is always nice. and quite lovely. but make sure you use the word "love" in the right way. so many people use it! its such a strong word!!!! but i will ALWAYS love my first love and i'm sure you all will 2. good luck and best wishes dear. <333

I left everything I had planned and settled in Chicago where my bf was. I was in love, for a while. He still is. We broke up but I don't regret having moved here cause I met some amazing people. And I'm leaving Chicago for good. But, no regrets. Atleast right now.

When it happened to me, a friend said, get ready for slow poisoning! What it means is that every moment of everyday, you're pining about that person. You want to meet him / her, get close to him / her, think about him / her - you're whole life will begin to revolve around your lover. So, enjoy! It won't last long!!!
