It is not some sort of clothing/jewelery you can put or take off. Your thoughts?

It entirely depends on the person and the skill of the artist. If it's a botch job or something stupid that someone got while they were drunk then yes I can see why someone would regret it. But if it's something that you really wanted at the time and the artist made a great job of it then I don't see the point in regretting. Most people get them done to map out a part of their life, a symbol that got them through the dark times, if someone gets a tattoo with a deep personal meaning then there is nothing to regret.

Im having one next month, its my first. Ive had several piercings but these you can take out, so finding the right design has been a nightmare as i dont want to regret it. Ive had a friend design it, it will be a star with my sons initial in the middle, i had to find something i liked as it going on the back of my neck and i will want it duplicated as i have more children. Its a huge decision. I know i wont regret mine as its for my son, who from day one ive always called my little star, at least being the back of my neck i can cover it with my hair and so as i do get old and wrinkly it will be coverd. I'm 23 and its taken me since i was 16 to decide on a tattoo...had my son at 19 and still wasnt 100% sure until now, its not something you should rush into.

I don't think I'll regret it. I've got 5 and am already planning 6 and 7! When people get older surely they want to remember the times when they enjoyed life. I know I got all my tattoos at a good point when I was happy.

Only if they haven't thought about it properly before they had it done. I've had mine for over 15 years and I still love them as much as when I first had them done. Each of my tattoos brings back a different memory, some of them good, some of them bad but they are all parts of my life and things that turned me into the person I am today.. In fact I love my tattoos so much I'm getting some more done soon:)

I think if people get a tattoo just for the sake of getting a tattoo, later on in life they will regret getting it. A tattoo is permanent and should reflect the person wearing it and if it doesn't, they will probably think, "What a stupid idea that was" later on.

Certainly. Body shape will change the beauty of the tattoo. What looks good on a 18 year old body may not look good on a 40 year old body.

People who have tattoos , obviously wanted it done not they would not go through all the pain of having it done. I would not do it my-self although I think it looks pretty. The skin is marked, although the marks are pretty.I have five pairs of ear-rings[holes]. I will not regret that. No, people will not regret having a tattoo.

Everyone is different. My Airborne tattoo was earned, and I will be proud of it until the day that I die. Everyone has their own reason for getting a tattoo. There is no right or wrong answer to this question.

I certainly do! But only when visiting hospital or docs, I have a tattoo on my boobs and now I am in my 60's it looks rediculous, specially the words(not telling) but it sometimes causes laughter with my mates, who btw also have stupid tattoos. My friend has a "W" on each cheek of her bum making the word WOW .

Ever see how a World War II veteran's tattoos look all faded and spread out? When he was young he probably thought it looked cool at the time he got it.
