Francisco Liriano and Johan Santana are the two best pitchers in baseball, today.
Francisco Liriano has an 11-win & 2-loss 1.94 era seasonal record and Johan Santana has an 11-win & 5-loss with a 3.00 era for the season. Combine these two pitchers with Catcher Joe Mauer's .377 Batting Average and you have a very potent nucleus for a strong run at the American League Championship Series-wild card.
But, with the A.L.C.S,, all a team has to do is get into the post season playoffs. Whether division champions or wild card, it doesn't matter. Obviously home field advantage would be a nice thing, but, worry about getting in first, then concentrate on home field advantage.
The Minnesota Twins are on the upswing and the Chicago White Sox are having their share of problems as of late.
Great question...

Minnesota has a good mix of speed and hitting with Castillo, Hunter, Punto and Mauer and Morneau respectively which allow them to manufacture runs consistently. However, they are not going to be able to knock the cover off the ball consistently and that's where their starters have to keep them in the game. Liriano and Santana clearly get them into the late innings and to the best bullpen in baseball. Right now they may have the best three combination of starters in baseball, with the aforementioned and Radke who is pitching decently as of late. That may be all the Twins need if they can make it to the postseason for there are a few more days off there.

The Twins unfortunately play in the AL Central, where the Tigers and White Sox currently reside, and though the White Sox have had their troubles lately, they'll get their ship righted soon and the Tigers have been the best team in baseball all season and they proved to the baseball world that they can beat the world champs, so Minnesota's work has been cut out for them
Joe Mauer is of extreme importance to them. Without him and their pitching, they're nowhere near where they are right now.

You know, the twins have a great lineup in batting, with justin morneau, michael cuddyer, joe mauer, and rondell white. If we used more or kyle lohse, carlos silva, and probably scott baker, the twins would have a well developed team. Now, the twins would have to really make a great effort with batting in order to make the playoffs, let alone they still do. But the core really is Santana, and Liriano, but twins are a great team cause theyve got one of the best teams in the league at this point.

no two pitchers is not enough to compete with detroit.
Ofcourse Maurer is very important as a catcher and a hitter. BUT, teamplay is the most important variable in the post season. They are tough, i am going to see them in detroit the 9th of August, go Tigers..

pretty its the uneven bounce that concerns the tournament referee Ball swing alot by way of circumstances in England dismiss of floor..i imagine ICC might want to might want to concentration extra about pitches in SA and Australia...maximum Australian wickets are between the proper contained in the international yet once in a lengthy time period they produce shockers like the single SL were given in very last tournament of 2010 ODI sequence. In SA u get wickets the position thers a lot of uneven bounce and frequently ones that ball rises alarmingly from even solid length..

They would have to get past The Tigers....and I dont think that's going to happen.
They should take the wild card though.
