i have no idea why it's called the land down under but i am just going to smile and give you a Vegemite sandwich....Lmao...but i am going to look it up and find out why it is called that and if i find out i will let you know...

if you accept the convention of showing the earth with the north pole at top, most of the civilized world is above the equator except australia is way at the bottom. so it is down under the rest of the most important world places and it is the most prominent down under. New zealand is there too but too small to mention
