I friend mentioned the word pot, what is it?

There are so many definitions for the one word 'pot'!! I see that you have posted in the garden section, so if you want to know about it in that sense, then a pot is metal or earthenware cooking vessel that is usually round and deep; often has a handle and lid!
If you are talking about in the drugs sense, then pot is the street name for marijuana (and marijuana is also called weed, pot, reefer, grass, dope, ganja, mary jane, and hash -- is the drug most often used in this country. It is a mix of dried, shredded flowers and leaves of the hemp plant (Cannabis sativa). Most users roll loose marijuana into a cigarette (called a "joint"). The drug can also be smoked in a water pipe, called a "bong"!!!

Well Mr. York, Pot is a term used for a cooking vessel but it is also a pop culture term for a form of drug. Remember, Say No, to Drugs!

They used to use them for urination. And there was a phrase built up around it if you were were poor you "didn't have a pot to p1ss in".

pot is marijuana. people smoke it to get high. they also bake it in brownies. it is sometimes refered to as: weed, green, reefer, grass, mary jane, dope (in the 80's, now dope is speed or heroin) ganja, leaf, bud, kind, green t-shirt (over the phone inquiring if your friend has any, as in: "you got that green t-shirt of mine?") wacky tabacky, herb, doja, skunk, red haired girl (the good **** often has red hairs in the bud), indica, thai - stick, maui-wowi, and such. don't mess with it anymore...had a lot of fun in my twenties, tho. happy trails.
