MONKEYS ARE NOT PETS.
They are not suited to living in a home environment.
They are smart and hard to keep in cages
Being in cages seems to piss them off. In this case you whole house will be a cage.
Ever been to a zoo? They fling poo. A lot of poo. Add that to being pissed, and you have poo wall paper.
They carry diseases that kill humans.
Volunteer at a zoo before you try to get a monkey. You will learn lots about keeping them.

It is still legal to own monkeys as pets but no one in their right mind should. They throw their poop, become unruly as adults, and bite too. Have never sold them in my shop. It is about $1,500 or more to import a monkey these days. Check state and federal regulations before considering purchasing one. If you want interaction, go volunteer at the Humane Society and walk the unwanted pets. Those animals would really enjoy your time.

It can be legal depending on where you live, and what the laws are. I would highly recommend that you look at this website before seriously considering to get a monkey as a pet.

You need a license for that, and make sure you understand the care and needs of a wild animal that shouldn't even become a pet in the first place. Make sure that it's not been poached, or it's completely illegal.

Yeah. In my state they're sometimes also referred to as children. They fling poo and are hard to keep out of trouble too. But according to my Darwin wristwatch, they will have evolved to little corporate executives any minute and they will get to fling poo in a proper corporate and political structure of our world today. Our country is at this very moment, sending our evolved children all over the globe to fling poo all over the evil empire. Hopefully sometime in the future, we will have buried all the world's terrorists in poo, and peace and democracy shall rein supreme!

You'd have to check your state laws. I'm sure it requires a permit of some sort if you're allowed.
