sometimes they are neglected at home and want attention
or they are bullied at home and think that bullying is ok and the way to deal with people.
Talk to the parents.

Bullies generally have an extremely low self-esteem. Some do not receive attention at home for a million different reasons. Often I have had success is allowing the bully to become the worker. You know, have him or her hand out papers, run errands, or whatever. It seems to allow energy expense in a functional capacity; it gives him or her some of the attention they need without being in trouble; and it allows him or her to do something successful thus building esteem (slowly), so that a focus on academic can be approached.
Hope this helps. Good Luck
To answer the first two questions: I am a teacher, and I teach because these students will be running the country/world when I am old. This is a most EXCELLENT investment in my future and the future of my world. MY JOB ROCKS!

I am a teacher.
Besides the reason that I want to be with children, I want to teach because I enjoy imparting knowledge to the younger ones. And I know that in the future, I wouldn't be able to express the feeling that my student is successful because of me and I was part of his life.
I also enjoy teaching because I don't feel that I am working FOR someone but WITH a team of educators with the same passion of educating others. And this lessens the stress at work. And at the end of the day, even if I am already physically tired, I don't feel drained when my students give me a hug, a small note, or just to say goodbye and that we'tll see again tomorrow.
As for your last question, bullies act a certain way because they like the feeling of power and authority over those who they think are weaker than them. I will suggest to give them what they need but closely monitored by you. For example, you can make the bully in-charge of making sure that students are not running along the corridors but guide them how to do it, like be gentle when calling the attention of a running kid. Then he/she will learn that he/she can be respected and will get the power and authority he/she is looking for just by being good.
I hope this helps. And if you are considering to be a teacher, good luck to you. Teaching can also be a calling. Educating has to be in you.
Once again, good luck!

I'm a teacher. I enjoy teaching because I teach math, and I enjoy teaching a subject that most kids don't like. It makes it a real challenge. My evil look will calm most bullies, or when I ask their parents to come in for a conversation, and maybe to sit in during class, that usually does the trick.

I wanted to teach for the money, fame, and company car that was provided by the district. I teach, because that's the way God wired me - I don't think I'd do anything else. I have found that the best way to deal with a bully is tap him on the shoulder with a cattle prod...once the effects of the electric shock wear off he's usually a lot more respectful of the rights of others.

I am a teacher, and I have been a teacher for 20 years.
I went into the profession because I am good at it. I discovered this in college when people came to me for help with their classes.
There are as many ways to handle a bully as there are teachers of bullies. (I am using the masculine pronouns for simplicity. I realize that there are also feminine bullies.)
1) pair him with another student who he cannot bully
2) keep him near the teacher's desk
3) keep him isolated to the side of the room
4) watch him constantly
5) put him in the middle so he is already the center of attention
6) give him chores to do to keep him busy
7) talk to him alone and let him know your penalties for his actions
8) meetings with parents to advise them of his behavior
9) behavior contract with both penalties and rewards
I hope some of these ideas help.

firstly a teacher is someone who's knowledgeable in his/her profession and able/willing to past his/her knowledge to others....
second, people want to teach b'coz it's part of social responsibility to educate others on things around us and around the world...teaching is a noble thing to do...just like your parents teach you and you will then teach your own children....
thirdly....a bully child must be taught that to love, understand and realize that violence is not the answer to all issue...a teacher must find out what's the reason behind a child's incline to be a bully in school...it could be peer pressure, it could be that the child was a bully victim at home or it could be that the child is watching too much tv....

I think a teacher is someone who believes in education and wants to better children and the world around them. I want to be a teacher because when a child doesnt understand something then finally gets it and their face lights up its such a beautiful moment its what teaching is all about.

You asked a lot of questions there. :)
I'm a teacher..... yay! I like working with kids and (hopefully) making a difference in their lives.
It really depends on the circumstances. There isn't one cure-all for every bully situation. You have to address things on an individual basis and know the background for what is going on.

Nobody can teach you as lons as you don't want... So I strongly believe that teachers are just a guide, opening a new door for you and it is your decision whether to come in or ignore.
I am a teacher and this is agreat satisfaction for me because I have a big opportunity to adress not only to their minds but also to their hearts and soul.

I'm in school to be a teacher and I want to do it because I want to help people learn something new.
Too bad you can't hit children in school anymore. (lol) but seriously, paddles were aloud back in the day. Discipline.. too old for a time-out? Put his/her a*s in the corner with a 'dunce' cap. lol or just lay him/her out like they do to other kids. DO NOT tolerate it... or maybe even suggest to his/her parents that therapy is in order... they WILL get offended, but..o-well.
