i have an hp computer to whitch i forgot my password to and i don't know what to do to bypass my password screen. any suggestions on how to get passed that screen or if it can be fixed at all by buying something new. i cant get passed that screen so i cant see any options. what can i do to reset the brains of my computer i dont care about loosing my info.

Shut down your computer , power and all, take out the cmos battery for at least 24hrs. This might work to delete all passwords. ...steve

Depends on which password you are talking about. If its a system password, you need to reset your bios with a jumper switch. Going to have to get on the HP website and look in the manual for your computer (can download PDF from HP website). If its an xp password, you are just going to have to reinstall XP, use the HP restore disc to do this.

If you have your recovery disk from HP, and don't mind loosing all of your stuff, you could just restore the system. Usually if you have a recovery or installation disk there is somewhere an option to reset the password - this would be the least destructive way of doing it.

Try connecting through a wire connection(RJ-45 cable). If you get through or connect with your router through the hard port. Go to your browser and type in 192.168.1.1. should it require a admin password. check the link below. And then look for anything that has to do with wi-fi and the likes. You should be able to see the password for wi-fi connection.

there's a dip switch on the mother board. i imagine its different for different mother boards, get onine to your pc manufacturer, have the pc serial number in hand, look for the reset password jumper or dip switch. i've had to do this a few times to different pc's i maintain.
