Ok here is the thing, a very irregular period COULD signal something is not right by way of your woman internal parts. I say this because I had an irregularity to my periods that consisted of bleeding for a full menstration two times a month and spotting the rest of the time. I went to my OBGYN and he did some testing and found that I had polyps in my endometrium, (English translation= extra skin growths in a certain layer of my uterus.) Also, things like ovarian cysts can cause abnormal bleeding. There are other things that can cause you to bleed at the wrong time, but I do not wish to go into them, for fear of scaring you without reason... the best thing I can tell you is you need to see a doctor, IMMEDIATLY to set your own mind at ease. Please understand, it could be something as simple as having a hormonal imbalalance from all of the birth control. Birth control can be a terrible thing to some people, and after I had the child I wished to have, I decided on a tubal ligation, (English Translation= I had my tubes tied,) because there was NO synthetic birth control that would go well with my body. Depo-Provera can cause long lasting effects in your body as well. It caused me to bleed for SIX months straight before I told the doctor there was NO way that he was going to put that needle in my arm again! Being on the pill and jumping off of it after two weeks can also be the culprit...

For your own piece of mind... GO TO THE DOC, as stressful situations, (like stressing about what is going on,) can also make you bleed more than usual, or even not at all... Good luck to you and hope this helps you out!

Sounds like your hormones are just incredibly out of whack! Why are you doing this to your body? (switching birth control methods on and off?). It's probably best for you to pick a method and stay on it, for the sake of your health and avoidance of annoying month-long periods. If you aren't on the shot or the pill because of the "side effects" (which are nothing in comparison to how it can benefit you - unwanted pregancies and regular periods), consider and IUD (IntraUiterine Device) which is a small device inserted into your uterus until you want it out. It's a form of birth control and it regulates your periods without the use of hormones (so you will not get side effects caused by the hormones of the pill and shot). The only downside is that it may give you slight cramps (if you don't already get them) or more sever cramps (if you do already get them). Definatley see a doctor so you can get yourself regulated because every woman should be.

I would suggest that you go to your OB-Gyn and get checked out.

I have a friend that has had her period for over 6 months. She's never been pregnant and is not on birth control pills and she has no explanation as to why.

I can't get her to go see a doctor though, she's hard headed like that. I guess she's afraid of what the doctor might tell her.

Isn't it strange how we stay away from the doctor because of what they might say when they are the very one's that can help us? Human nature sure is funny, isn't it.
