NOTHING is ALWAYS a virtue.

The ancient Greeks taught that all virtues are balanced between two extremes. Tilt too much in any one direction, and the virtue becomes a vice.

For instance, courage is a virtue. But if you have too little courage, you are a coward. If you have too much courage (let's say that you try to attack a tank with your bare hands), you are reckless & foolhardy.

Working hard is usually a virtue, but if you work too hard or too long, you can harm your health, or can end up neglecting your other duties in life - such as your family.

And you know what they say about "All work and no play..."

Remember the motto: "Everything in moderation.:

Everyone defines "working hard" differently, but IMHO IF "working hard" entails excluding other aspects of life important for growth and well-being, such as spending time with loved ones, or enjoying the small moments of beauty life can offer, then working hard can be a detriment. Though often stated, balance in life is essential. If you are always working hard or, when not working, thinking about the work you should be doing, then you miss so much of life...Sadly, it (balance) is also incredibly elusive given todays social climate and high cost of living index. Just my .02.

In my opinion working hard is no more a virtue while "smart work" is. The difference is as to how you can improvise the processes of your role and add value.

Believe in yourself and constantly introspect

Hi mate, as you must be aware, any virtue in character(You name it dude) when in access you harm yourself. Bieng a Human we have highly sophisticated brains(believe me on this).
Working hard is a Virtue and that is the sole reason why it must be applied reasonably miserly. One must work hard where his interset lies and not in vain.

I think that depends on what you do, and if you like what you are doing. For example, I work in a retirement home, and it's hard work. But I love every minute I'm there. I love the residents, and all my fellow employees are like family. I don't care that I could be making more money somewhere else. I love what I do.

Not necessarily, as it can easily become a vice. If you let hard work crowd out other things that are important such as love, family, friendship, compassion, etc. then it can do far more harm than good. This may sound dorky, but Ebenezer Scrooge is a perfect example of this.

As long as you're not stoicly working toward an obsolete goal, then yes! Persistence and hard work form an axiom for the success of the modern world.
