This is due to global warming.
It has indeed been unusually hot in the Northern Hemisphere lately (it's winter in the southern one right now).
The cause of global warming is disputed. Many believe fossil fuels are to blame, and there is indeed a noticable corelation between the use of fossil fuels and the rise of the average world temperature,
Some believe natural forces are to blame. The Earth has gone through warming periods in the past. The cause of this is unknown and it has been suggested that solar activity, or even cosmic rays from outside of the solar system.
I do think it would be more mild at the moment if we didn't use fossil fuels.

It's gotta be global warming because over here in England we're meant to have wet gloomy summers with a bit of sun like we usually do. At the moment though all we've had is sun with hardly any rain and the temperature over here is 32°C or 90°F which is bloody hot for us!

Seems like there is this WARMING trend on a GLOBAL basis. We can reverse it if we take it seriously, now, and make it a priority to fix it, now.
If you haven't figured out by now that there's something seriously wrong with the way we're managing this world, you may not live long enough to see a solution.
