A lot of people major in psychology in college, but actually becoming a psychologist is very, very hard.

"Guidance counselor" is on the short list of things you can do with less than a PhD in psych.

Thats on my list of the many careers I may have in the future

I like helping people figure things out, which might be why I like yahoo! answers so much lol

It might also be because my guidance counselors sucked and gave me absolutely no help, so I want to compensate for that.

Where I live, most counselors were once classroom teachers. They want to be counselors to get out of the classroom, get a few more dollars and to help children as best they can, not in any particular order!

Because they're afraid to take risks themselves, but they love to tinker with the futures of others.

If they were willing to put forth any real effort, they'd become social workers or psychologists.

people who screw up SOOO badly in their life believe they can make a difference in the youngins life. that and it's usually the only job they can get besides fast food

to show/tell at risk kids there is more to life thanthe gangs, drugs, and poverty they grew up with
