i did an experiment. whith 3 sets of broccoli florets. they had the same size, shape and weight. however after boiling the three sets over time intervals of 4 minutes (4 min, 8 min, 12 min). however all three sets after the experiment increased in weight. how is this

I would think that the broccoli have a large amount of cellulose and fibery stuff called lignin which would allow water to be absorbed increasing the weight. Because the broccoli is heated up, it causes the fiber and lignin to expand which allows it to absorbe more water.

They must have gotten heavier. Possibly by absorbing water into their cellular structures and fibrous materials. Probably why boiled vegetables are softer and oh so juicy!!!

well you are talking about a vegetable that is high in fiber, that is also stalk type of plant, it is soaking up the water and thus the increase of weight...
