this is an unfortunate problem for the gay rights movement. polygamy is probably the only alternative marriage that has any premise to be discussed when talking about gay marriage because there are several religions that believe in polygamy. i say it is the only other one because incest is wrong, and i can say this because biologically, people that are related to each other should not mate because of the higher risk of birth defect.
i do not think that polygamy is a big issue because there are not many people in this country fighting for that right and at one point it was legal in some areas because of the fact that the Mormon religion did practice polygamy, they have since taken back their support on the issue.
polygamy and incest are not as big of issues as many anti gay marriage supporters want you to think. there is not that much to worry about these two types of marriage because there is very little support for them, the only ones really talking about them are conservatives in an attempt to create a controversy with the idea of a homosexual union. there are millions of homosexual people out there that deserve the right to marriage because it is not wrong, no matter what the bible tells you.

no. One of the hurdles with gay marriage right now is that marriage is viewed by lawmakers (some) as a union between a man and a woman. The main change that needs to be made is to make it a union of two people.

polygamy is worst in my opinion. increase risks for birth defects. at least for gay marriage, they help control world's population and they can always adopt these over crowded orphanages we have =)

no, they wouldn't. gays should have equal rights under the constitution. the state has no business incorporating the doctrines or prejudices of a religion or sect into law.
