I always just pour a cup of gas down the hole. You don't have to light it on fire.

I sevin'd the yard the other day...found a dead hornet...so...maybe...but it does say something about grubs in the ground to water the sevin after you apply it(granules) The hubby like to do the dump gas thing too.
