Miss America was at one point a beauty contest, then you saw the most beautiful women in one place
Now, so many other criteria involved, and beauty in just one item
For example, education, languages, leadership, accomplishments, etc and the list goes on
So you see, the truly beautiful girls may not have all of these things.
I think I agree with you, it should be only a beauty contest.

Well that is refreshing if it's true. I am from Kentucky and it seems that Miss Kentucky always has the THICKEST country accent imaginable. I don't know where they find these people. Not all kentucky girls speak with such a HICK accent. Hopefully their lack of beauty is being replaced by talent and smarts. I've watched the behind the scenes for the girls in these paegents...I couldn't stand to be in the same room with most of them. They are spoiled and have the intelligence of a box of rocks.

indeed. and they are all so fake, plastic, without an iota of honesty or genuine-ness. fake smiles, fake tans, fake boobs, overstyled hair, too much time in the gym, over-rehearsed politically correct media coaching...
horrible.
