This really depends upon two things, your age and your interests. If for example you are old enough to volunteer for the conservation corps or one of those organizations that is almost always productive. If you have an interest in children there are always organizations like big brother, big sister.

Assuming you are younger than makes these options not viable, then you could find something you want to learn about, and look for volunteer groups that give you experience in the things you want to do with your life. If you are artistic, you could create.. there really is no end to the things you could do with your time..

Volunteer to read to children at a public library; do grocery runs for senior citizens; help clean cages and feed animals at the Humane Society; pick up litter and trash at parks, etc; mow my yard.
