I live in Canada, and as little as five years ago I experienced the USA testing missiles in Northern Alberta. It amazes me that the US feels they can have nuclear (yes, they do) weapons, test them, point them, and threaten covertly with them, but no on else can.

There are pros and cons to the perspective the US has.

Pros:they are proactive, and make sure the planet knows they will not be messed with. Much like the bully on the playground alerting others that they are in charge. A pro?

They help explain and model the meaning of hypocrisy, oops, that's a con.

They exist on fossil fuels and allow those that have them profit and control them. Oh, sorry, wrong again...

Cons: Could and would anything be done if an event occurred again like Iran? Eg: we hear from intelligence that the minuscule island of Bora Bora has weapons of mass destruction. The trust factor is gone.

Bottom line: a resurgence of new wars is occurring, led by the modern example of the US. What incredibly influential event will create communication and tolerance?

FYI: I will let you know when I am arrested as a terrorist plotting in smallville CA, though I am only expressing freedom of speech.

lol i work with the UN and fly 50meters from north korea with there silly uniforms and sniper rifles pointed at me. Anywho because think about it really. When anything goes down who is always the first person to react and take charge? Who is always helping others countrys in a time of need? Oh wait thats us! Plus we took the roll when the UN was formed. So Yeah we are the world police and we do a damn fine job of it too! -SPC Baldwin

The USA signed a treaty with all other countries not to use them.
Not to pursue and test a nucular arms program. Say like North
Korea? They have broken the treaty. Also have you heard of
the UN? They are the ones who started the treaty( so called ban)
Do your homework.

Because nations that have them like the US have them for defensive purposes only. We don't nuke other countries in hope of expanding our boarders. N. Korea has a madman running its country. Iran's leader is just as "crazy". You don't want nukes in their hands. When a country wants nukes for defensive purposes they announce it to the world. When they keep (or try at least) it a secret...they want to use them on offense.

Note to above post: Get real! The UN is USELESS!

Just in case you haven't heard, the United States has not made an atomic weapon since the 1980's. And we've been disarming them since that time, too.

Because they are threatening other countries with them...
and they are making no bones about the fact that once they get them they are going to use them...on us.
Anyway...we invented it....lets just say we got the copyright.

We can blow away entire nations, without Nuclear weapons, we have MOABs. 22,000lb conventional smart bombs with nuke blast power but NO radiation.

M…..Mother
O…..of
A…..all
B…..bombs

WE have Tomahawks with fuel-air explosive war heads. The big Tomahawks can carry 10 war heads. They can burn entire cities with fuel-air explosive.

First the MOAB, when the shock wave clears, in comes the Tomahawk. The entire city is flattened and then burned with fuel-air explosive. The fuel-air explosive burns everything left and it burns off all the oxygen. There is no way to survive!

Because we think we're mature enough not to use them even though we're the only one's who ever have used nukes in a war.
