Well when you do an upgrade with Tmobile they will give you a phone for a discounted price. What's the use of an upgrade if you still have to pay for the phone right?

So this is my suggestion.. 1st Don't do an upgrade, find a cheap phone on ebay just like you said and use that.. You don't have to have a contract with tmobile to have a service.. So basically after your contract ended you just have a line with them, No contract, you can leave anytime, cut your line without a fee or penalty.

2nd to get a free phone.. cut your tmobile line or transfer to another provider.. You will get a nice good phone for free with a new contract..

I hope this helps.. Good Luck!!

get your phone from ebay...Make sure it is unlocked...the plus side is that you DO NOT HAVE TO GET INTO A CONTRACT...MAKE SURE WHEN YOU GET THE SIM FOR YOUR PHONE THEY DO NOT STICK YOU INTO A CONTRACT...Upgrades are for contract customers only....
