Why dont Muslims have respect for other religions?

They have no respect for other religions except for their own,they call non muslims infidils and what not.They insult other religions.Since the days of middle ages all they have done to the world is destruction-(the Afghans attaked India,during the medival ages a no of times broke their temples and built mosques in their place,the araab rulers drove out the Jews and occupied their lands).They have no place in a civilized society.
Only if these cockroaches called Muslims are exterminated will peace prevail.
PS:I have great respect for ISLAM but really dont have any respect for its perverted followers who twist their religion and come out with rediculous theories about oher religions

You are only looking at the radical extremist of Islam. Christians have some extremist too who would like nothing else but to nuke all nations of Islam. You know this is true.

So called Christians waged crusades against most of the Middle East killing anyone who would not accept the Christian faith. Protestants enslaved Catholics in Ireland and murdered 8 million of them between 1125 and 1900. In fact, Protestants from England committed genocide in every colony they established except the U.S. because they got run off. They killed 3.5 million non-Protestants in India and the entire population of Tasmania, to name a couple. In fact, these Christians killed more people in more countries than Hitler ever dreamed of. It was the occupying Romans who actually nailed Christ to the cross at the request of the Jews. So called Christians treated the Middle Eastern population so poorly that they could not possibly accept Christianity as a faith. What kind of God fearing religion would allow that?

There are contradictions in the Muslim religion as in all religions. An eye for an eye and turn the other cheek. True Muslims are peaceful and respectful of all mankind just like true Jews and true Christians. Everyone believes that their religion is right and the others are wrong. True Christians, Jews, and Muslims acknowledge the good that other religions have done.

I am not Muslim or Jewish but I do not turn a blind eye to the attrocities committed by any one who supposedly believes in a God.

Um, what a ridiculous question. The same generalised accusation could be levelled at Christians, Jews, Hindus, in fact almost any other religion. I don't know too many religious people that are tolerant of my non-religious beliefs. Lets just give you an example, for hundreds of years the safest places for Jews to live were in Persia (Iran) and Baghdad, Iraq. In Europe they were regularly murdered in large numbers. AND when the Christians took Jerusalem in the Crusades, they murdered all the Muslims. When the Muslims took it back, they left the Christians alive. Time to educate yourself. You are part of the problem. The current intolerance is a two way street.

Christians call nonchristians heathens. Why do you feel the need to make such a blanket statement? I've met quite a few Muslims and I never felt disrespected. You don't really respect Islam or you wouldn't be calling for the extermination of all Muslims. Oh, and by the way, Christian crusaders destroyed temples and art of pagan peoples and built churches on top of their sacred grounds. But then I guess in the eyes of someone like you that's okay.

Muslims who attack other religions are doing exactly what their guru commanded them to do. It's the so-called "Muslims" who try to live in peace with others who are disobeying Mohammed and perverting his teachings. This is because Mohammed was a political psychopath, a medieval Hitler and the cult he founded was a kind of primitive Naziism.

Sure, there are plenty of people of Muslim background who aren't like this but their ethical and emotional sanity is coming from themselves, not from Muhammed. Since it would be dangerous however to openly dissent, most Muslims deal with the tension (AKA "cognitive dissonance") by kidding themselves and each other that this is what their cult commands. The fancy word for this is "rationalization".

Christians believers do the exact same thing to deal with the inconvenient fact that their guru commanded them (in very clear language in the "New Testament") to be pacifists. Since obviously that would be suicidal in a world like this, the believers jump through mental hoops to convince themselves that he didn't say what the book clearly said he did and/or the words don't mean what they obviously mean.

Someday, if and when Humanity ever grows up, Jesus will be seen as the archetypal flaky, spaced-out hippie guru, while Mohammed will be seen as the original and ultimate evil guru. All other evil gurus ( Jim Jones, David Koresh, whatever... ) are just pale imitations of this man, the greatest religious maniac who ever lived, Mohammed....

after reading the answers i can see now how other religions have sense of respect for a different religion.

one mr or ms said islam is today where christainity was 500 years ago. for her kind information our religion is same as it was on the very first day. it has not changed and wont ever change. coz its the ultimate truth and beyond it there is no other truth. islam is for all ages, for all humanity and not for a particular time period and for specific group of ppl. u wont believe but Quran covers all that had happened, that is happening and that also that still have to happen. In Quran its mentioned that Israel wont ever find their own land till dooms day. and thats what we r seeing now. or is it not?????? in short any one in this whole world, from any religion, any part of the world, can get knowledge from it. our culture shows what our religion tells us. we try to follow it to our best. we pray five times a day and thanks to the Lord for allHis blessings. we do not have to think about him once in a week. remembering him daily keeps us away from lot of sins. is it something bad we do?????????sometimes if you all want to know what muslims are, just go back and read their history. we were the peak nation and in some places ppl from different religions(hindus) made the statues of Muslim rulers and starting worshiping them. do not see and listen what other says. we all say that we are in 21st century. we say we are more civilized and broad minded. if it so then why to listen others? why not to make some suggestion or decision of our own? grow up guys. make the world worth living. do not increase hatred among others. our politicians are already doing it very well. the fight going on in world is not of religions but its all political tacts. no one is sincere with his nation. no religion teaches u to kill others.

You hit the answer exactly. Many followers of Islam have great respect for other religions. Just like many followers of Christianity have great respect for other religions.

But in each case, there are those who twist (pervert) the teachings and become fanatics who hate everything different. It's these fanatics who don't have respect for anyone else.

But the fanatics are not representative of the core teachings, whether you're talking fanatic Muslims or fanatic Christians or fanatics of any other religion.
