For years, we in America have supported Israel both financially and militarily because we perceived they were the innocent victims of hostile and violent neighbors. The US media has, for years, provided extensive coverage of every incident involving Arab-against-Israeli violence. From shootings, to car bombs to suicide bombers, we in America have seen it all. Or have we?

Israel tried in every way possible to live peacefully with its neighbors. They are surrounded on all sides with countries that harbor terrorists. From the day Israel was established, the attacks began. The Israelis even bulldozed their own settlements and gave the land to the Arabs, but nothing short of the annihilation of Israel would satisfy them. The suicide bombers got on Israeli school buses and went into the market places. Missiles were aimed at resorts and cities and hundreds more were poised on the border. Israel even built a wall but it didn't keep the terrorists out. When 2 soldiers were kidnapped, Israel had enough. The did what the US should be doing; they went after the terrorist's headquarters and training grounds. These are the same terrorists that attacked us on 9/11 and have attacked Britain, India and other countries. Israel is the only ally of the US in the Middle East and the only democracy in the region. They have a right to defend themselves.

Both sides are perpetrators of heinous terroristic acts. If peace, REAL peace, where Israelis and Arabs can walk side by side, is to happen, the way they solve their problems needs to be changed. ok, i was born in israel, and this is what i have to say
if ur talking about the current situation, the israelis are trying to liberate lebanon from the political party, hezbollah, that for years has been controlling crucial points of lebanese government. the civilian casualties are VERY unfortunate, but these people are not the israeli military's targets: the real terrorists are. this war is not one against lebanon, or syria, but specifically against the militants and guerilla fighting that control these areas at the moment. once hezbollah is destroyed, i PROMISE you the attacks will stop. they are simply a pressure on the Lebanese government to fight back against these people who are smaller than their entire population, and whom they can fight back. but since they are afraid to do so on their own, israel is helping a little, but with unfortunate fatalities...if you're on hezbollah's side, there's no convincing you here, sorry.
