the only one I can think of was that one on the Disney channel a looong time ago where the kid started turning into a mermaid or something haha.. are there any out there though? I need some inspiration cause my training is getting soo tedious. even if the swimming part is just a background occurence as long as it's noticeable in the plot that's ok.. thanks

Here are 4 movies about competitive swimming, that are obtained from IMDb (Internet Movie database).
The first three are directly related to competitive swimming, but the fourth one is more about one man's struggles with his emotions and personal feelings, and indirectly related to swimming. Hope this list is useful!

1.Swimming Upstream (2003)
Directed by: Russell Mulcahy
Country of origin: Australia
Lead actors: Geoffrey Rush, Judy Davis, Jesse Spencer
Summary: The true story of Tony Fingleton, a young man from a troubled family who found the inner strength to become a champion. Always overshadowed in his father's eyes by his brothers, it is only when Tony displays an extraordinary swimming talent that he feels he has a shot at winning his father's heart.

2.Abba Shahor Lavan (2002)
Directed by: Eitan Londner
Country of origin: Israel
Lead actors: Dan Toren, Hila Alpert
Summary: Yonatan, Michal's dad, turned orthodox and left her family when she was very young. 7 years later, when he appears at her mother's funeral, all the anger and tensions in the family are brought up again. Michal on the other hand, is very curious, and tries to find a way to communicate with her father. They find common interest in competitive swimming, a hobby that Michal picked up, and which her father, as it turned out, used to be a serious contestant in.

3.Alex (1993)
Directed by: Megan Simpson Huberman
Country of origin: Australia/New Zealand
Lead actors: Lauren Jackson, Chris Haywood, Josh Picker
Summary: Alex Archer is a 15-year-old Kiwi who has her heart set on winning gold in the 100m freestyle at the 1960 Rome Olympics. Unlike today's professionally-trained swimmers, Alex is expected to not only train, but keep up with her schoolwork, piano lessons and ballet classes. Her training conditions are primitive, and it doesn't help her that Alex's family are battlers who fail to share her dream. And Alex has a worse problem to face - the death of her boyfriend. Will Alex achieve her dream?

4.The Swimmer (1968)
Directed by: Frank Perry
Country of origin: USA
Lead actors: Burt Lancaster, Janet Landgard, Janice Rule
Summary: Neddy Merrill has been away for most of the Summer. He reappears at a friend’s pool. As they talk, someone notices that there are pools spanning the entire valley. He decided to jog from pool to pool to swim the whole valley. As he stops in each pool his interactions tell his life story.

There's a little bit of high school swim training in Ordinary People, but it's a pretty depressing movie and it wouldn't inspire you.

Didn't they make movies about Mark Spitz and Greg Lougainis? Try searching for their names on amazon.com
