I personally like to read fantasy books, or books with vampires, but I also like books about a normal teenager.

i'm 16....i like reading about real life....something that has a good sense of reality....that can really touch teens and they know its what they go through in real life....i like books that don't categorize pretty girls as dumb cheerleaders, handsome guys as jocks or into sports all the time, and ugly girls/guys as nerds, band or computer geek, etc....because in real life, pretty girls can be smart and a cheerleader at the same time.....there are ugly girls who are dumb, rude, and weird.....i think its too cliche if you put it that way....there are different blends of good qualities and bad qualities in everyone.....i really love a novel that speaks like a best friend would....a really good example will be the princess diaries series....i think that Meg Cabot really captures the hearts of teenage girls because she talks to us like we're reading our friend's diary or a note from them....i think love and sex are too overrated in the teenage books....because there are a lot of teens who don't think that those 2 are the most important in the world....there are some that think that studies are the most important right now, and dating should be done at a more mature age.....some want to, but no one takes interest in them....some teens just want to disappear....etc etc....but if you're wanting to write a book for teens, then write one that relates to your teenage experience....you will like putting it down on paper and since you've experienced it it'll be really good...i don't know if you're wanting to write a book or not, but i'm really glad that you're asking teens their opinions on this....i hope you get all the answers you're looking for :)

Some kind of romance
-b/w people of different backgrounds or friends
-best friends who find out they both like each other
-traveling & falling in love
-etc
a tragedy that was overcome through time and maturing
anything comedic, but with substance
death
drama
magic/powers/fantasy(vampires, werewolves, time travel)
But the best one, especially for girls is the romance one
