i have been with verizon wirelsess and want to buy the new q ( i know blah blah blah i have to pay full price and don't care) but the t hing is can i have a regular minuite plan and a reg non pda/smartphone text messaging plane with the mororola q?

We are in the same boat. I have the Motorola Q, you CAN have a simple text message plan and voice plan and NOT have a data plan. BUT: If you don't have a data plan you will have to pay as you go, so if you check email or browse the web, it will cost you per KB. This will add up very quickly and would be okay, but read the next part carefully: PIX and FLIX messages count as Data as well as text messages. So, in your case I'd say either get the LG VX 9800 or someting like that.
Ps: You get $100.00 off the Q if you sign up for the unlimited data plan (which you can cancel any time)
