what kind of bad luck is believed to happen?

It is bealieved it'll bring 7 years of bad luck.
But what you are supposed to do is not look at your reflection on any of the broken pieces. The bad thing is when you look at yourself through a broken mirror. Don't do this! Ok?
I think if you do this, there's no real bad luck. Just a broken mirror.

Some say bad luck for 7 years but im not a believer i think the real worry is wondering if you got all the glass up.

according to superstition 7 years. However if you break one now you will have to buy another one and clean up the broken bits. If you are not careful you could cut yourself on the shards, and if not properly cared for get an infection. That is the bad luck.
Also it is believe that if you break a mirror that your soul is unhappy. Since a mirror was believed to reflect a persons soul.

Basically, you have a mess. The popular superstition was that how ever peices the glass broke into counted as years. It used to be that the backing of mirrors was made with mercury, so if you cut yourself, you would get sick and possibly, depending on how bad the cut, die. Or if you were lucky and lived, you would be sickly. But now there is no mercury on the back of your mirror, so the worst that could happen is that you get cut and have a mess on the floor.

Luck, like religion is a made-up set of stories, which have the convenient result that you may have any rules you want. If you believe that you will have 7 years of bad luck -you just might.

It is said that you will be cursed with 7 years of bad luck. You can reverse the bad luck by leaveing the house, goingback at midnight and throwing it away before the time is 12:01.

That's the saying. Basically it comes from a time when mirrors were terribly expensive since they used to use real pure silver to make mirrors. If you broke one of these expensive mirrors, you were out quite a bit of money and if you had to replace it that was just more money you had to spend.

I don't know what kind of luck is said to happen only that there will be seven years. I myself have never broken a mirror. ~knock on wood~

The bad luck comes from having to pick up the pieces and throw them away without ripping the trash bag.

First clean it up.Second it means you'll need to go get a new mirror.As for bad luck....that old 'wives' tail got started because people believed that looking into a mirror trapped your soul,so to brake it was to cast out your own soul.So it is a bunch of non-sense.
