The crave to smoke will usually pass within ten minutes of your body wanting the nicotine. One solution is gums and patches that fufil your cravings without lighting up, but here are some other things to try if you are set on doing this the "natural way."
If you can, find something to distract you. (example: Call a friend or relative on the phone and talk to them for a while) Also exercize will make your body stronger, and a good diet never hurts. You just need a motivation like someone close to you that supports your quitting and wants you to stop smoking. Or calculate all the money you spend on cigarettes per month and decide that once you quit, you can use that money towards something you really want. Just having that sort of goal will keep you in the right mindset.
Don't feel like you are alone when you do this. Most people that know you will often be proud and glad of your new way of life and will help you all they can, and you may inspire fellow co-workers and/or family and/or friends thats smoke to follow in your footsteps.
Good luck, and don't bring yourself down in the process to sucess by getting frustrated or angry. Think of what you CAN and WILL do, and go do it!

The best way to stop is to convince yourself that your not going back on to smoking if you stop. Even if you feel like you may just have one more to calm you down DON'T you will just start again as you will keep thinking okay just another and then you find yourself back to where you were.
What I'd also do would be to go out and buy some nicotine gum and maybe some patches. You may think they're not as good as smoking but this will be because it takes more time than smoking to get the nicotine to your brain and stop your craving for it.
Lastly the final question that you must ask yourself is do you really enjoy smoking a cigarette? Many people say yes to this but they don't realize that all they want is the nicotine and after they have quit they ask themselves this question again and find out that to be honest with themselves they didn't actually like it.
Hope this helps to help you quit and remember that your will power is the key for you to stop smoking.

Gradually cut down. Cut down the number of cigarattes you smoke every 3 days. When you are down to one, stop all together. You will see that it is a long process and you may have to try a few times before you can succeed, but millions of people have successfully quit, and you are no exception! You can quit as long as you have the will power to do so. Good luck!

in my opinion, there seems to be no reason to quit completely cold turkey.
if you were to cut back the number of cigs you smoke by one every two to three days it would be far easier than trying to go completely off nicotine immediatly.
the added benefit of this approach is that if you go through an exceptionally stressful time that causes you to relapse by one or two cigs, its not that big a deal it is only a small percentage of your daily intake. when you go cold turkey if you smoke even one cig ever for the rest of your life you feel like an utter failure, leading to a desire to smoke more. when you make a small increase one day on the tapering off method it isn't that big a deal and it is easier to get back on track emotionally. as you near the end you may want to cut your smoking from one a day to one every other day to one every third day or you may feel confident that you will be capable of of going cold turkey after you get down to one a day.
