why is everyone saying 808 in r&b song ive heard beyonce and kelis and many others say it in there song

808 is reference to a drum machine Roland came out with in the late 80's, the TR-808...it was very popular by electronic and hip hop artists in that era. Hip hop, electronic music (all forms), and R & B to this day still use it, the kick drum which produces a deep sub base sound is what adds to it's popularity

Roland 808 is a drum machine. It came out in the 80's, and was designed so bands playing live could do without a drummer. But it rose to prominence because of hip hip, as the early artists loved the bass, the handclaps and hihat sounds. They're very basic by today's standards, but they are still held in high esteem. You might also remember the British electronic dance group called 808 State.
